Something only a committed violist/musician could love

The book is a scholastic jewel. It reeks of informaton on music theory for anyone patient enough to go through any part of the book with awareness and intelligence. I am an experienced violist/violinist and am intimidated by this book. Fortunately my teacher explains the subtleties as we go along. I can feel myself increasingly able not only to understand the intricacies of the physical demands of the exercises, but to increase my comprehension of the relationships between keys.

Could be better!

The condition of the book i recieved was very good. Its not heavy and cover is beautiful
But the notes are a bit blury. . . it is readable, but the print is definitly not top-quality.
However, I got used to it after a while. . . But I would buy another one if I could go back in time!

About the Author
David Johnson earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology (with an emphasis on Learning Theory), from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and a Master's degree in Mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley. After several years working as an academic counselor at Berkeley, he became a Professor of Mathematics at Diablo Valley College (DVC). He has taught DVC's liberal arts math course regularly for about 25 years, using Mathematics a Practical Odyssey. Other favorite courses include Intermediate Algebra, all three semesters of Calculus, and Differential Equations.

Ed Tittel worked as an instructor for Austin Community College from 1997 through 2003 and taught at Interop from 1996 to 2004. He is a Network Certified Professional, and works as a full-time freelance writer and consultant in Austin, TX. He has contributed to over 130 books on computing across a broad range of subjects, and is the author of numerous titles published by Course Technology. Help Me pass the exam.

Learning the foundation and fundamentals of networking is most important to passing the Network+, CCNA, MCSE, CAN, CIW, Inet+ exams and this book will get you started towards the certification success you are looking for.
Updated to cover Windows 2000 and Linux, this book is made for the classroom setting. The authors include hands-on projects and case projects to help the student learn in more than a self-study and lecture setting.
With topics like network concepts, design of VLANs and topologies, media, nics, protocols, architectures like 10 and 100 mpbs, token ring, apple talk, FDDI, CDDI, ATM and SONET, simple and complex networks, WANS, and troubleshooting, you have everything you need to gain a great foundation for the networking arena.
With everything in the book there is also review questions, chapter summaries and key terms for each chapter. Overall this is the perfect teaching guide.

Avoid This Book!

If you're new to networking and are looking for a book to adequately teach you the basics, avoid this one. Although the text does a fine job of introducing the essential topics, it provides five (5) types of information about these topics: Contradictory, Incorrect, Incomplete, Incomprehensible, and Decent. Since NE is a mnemonic and acronym driven subject, here are a few mnemonics to help you remember this: IDIoCy and DICey. The book is very poorly written; I read 3 other books on NE in the same time it took me to get through this book's garbled syntax and errata. The decent part is the summary tables provided throughout the book on cabling, architecture, protocols, etc. The "limited version" Transcender test CD provided with the text is OK, but it is essentially a teaser to get you to buy the "full version." Instead, I recommend the Sybex NE Study Guide (Chellis and Perkins), NE Unleashed (Sportack), and Accelerated MCSE NE Study Guide (Kinnaman). Using these, I just passed the 70-058 exam with a 900.

Awesome book for Network+ exam

While this book wasn't written specifically for CompTIA's Network+ exam, I found it extremely useful and informative. I have read many networking books, and this one explained the concepts very well, especially at what layers various hardware devices work. I bought it for a college networking class and kept it after the class was over because I thought it was so useful. I passed my Network+ exam a couple of weeks ago with the help of this book.

His objective is a definition and understanding of "the canons of conduct for the public authority of a dynamic society." He writes for "whoever would exercise the duties of a citizen."

About the Author
Bertrand de Jouvenel (1903-1987) was a French philosopher, political economist, and futurist known for his many works in political philosophy. He taught at many universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Yale, and the University of California. Unlike many other French intellectuals at the time, de Jouvenel acknowledged the early twentieth-century movement of economic theory and welfare economics that emerged in the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, and Austria. His many books include The Pure Theory of Politicsand The Ethics of Redistribution.

Mahoney is a self-taught artist who has been drawing and creating stories all his life. He studied radiologic technology at Hudson Valley Community College and is an X-ray technician at a hospital.
