Excellent book

This is an excellent up-to-date summary of the biosynthesis of a number of more or less insect specific compounds. The author has updated and thoroughly revised an earlier edition of this book, and it now provides a comprehensive and in-depth coverage of our current state of knowledge. It is written from a chemist's perspective and is very readable. It has an excellent chapter summarizing experimental methods covering the use of both radioactive and stable isotopes, and then in-depth coverage of fatty acids, products from fatty acids including hydrocarbons and pheromones, aceto-propiogenins, terpenes and steroids, aromatic compounds and alkaloids. It emphasizes the biosynthetic pathways of important insect compounds. This relatively short book (362 pages) contains a wealth of information. I highly recommend this book.
